Ralph Kiser was the folksy heart of the Zapatera tribe in Redemption Island — a Virginia farmer whose down-home charm and mangled malapropisms made him an instant character, and who stumbled into a hidden immunity idol almost by accident. Plain-spoken and suspicious of slick operators, he took an immediate dislike to tribemate Russell Hantz and never let it go.
He was a central figure in Zapatera's infamous decision to throw a challenge just to vote Russell out, but the dysfunction it bred helped doom the whole tribe against Boston Rob's machine. Ralph was voted out in ninth. A genuinely original character who played the game his own stubborn way.
