All-Stars

Survivor: All-Stars · Season 8

Episode Guide

How Survivor: All-Stars unfolded, week by week.

  1. 1They're Back!Feb 1, 2004Eighteen of the show's biggest names return for the first all-returnee season, sorted onto Chapera, Mogo Mogo, and Saboga. The shock lands fast: Saboga stumbles, and Tina Wesson, the beloved Australian Outback champion, becomes the very first one voted out, a former winner gone before the game even warms up.
  2. 2Panicked, Desperate, Thirsty as HellFeb 5, 2004Saboga can't get out of its own way, and the snakebit tribe is right back at Tribal. Rudy Boesch, the gruff 75-year-old fan favorite from the very first season, is voted out as Saboga keeps crumbling.
  3. 3Shark AttackFeb 12, 2004The game is interrupted by real life. Jenna Morasca, the Amazon champion, learns her mother is gravely ill with cancer and makes the wrenching choice to quit and go home to be with her. She leaves on her own terms; her mother passed away just days later.
  4. 4Wipe Out!Feb 19, 2004The woeful Saboga is finally dissolved, its survivors scattered into the other two tribes. Amid the reshuffle, the proven schemer Rob Cesternino, exactly the kind of strategic threat nobody wants to carry deep into an all-star game, is voted out.
  5. 5I've Been Bamboozled!Feb 26, 2004An immunity challenge produces one of the most disturbing moments in the show's history: during a balance-beam mini-game, a naked Richard Hatch presses himself against Sue Hawk, an act she would later describe as a violation. At Tribal that night, the tribe votes out Richard, in part as a looming strategic threat, the original Sole Survivor sent home in fourteenth.
  6. 6OutragedMar 4, 2004The fallout comes to a head. Still shaken and feeling the incident wasn't taken seriously, Sue Hawk rises at Tribal Council, says plainly that she was violated and that a line had been crossed, and quits the game on the spot, walking away from Survivor for good.
  7. 7Sorry...I Blew ItMar 11, 2004With the game settling back into strategy, Colby Donaldson, the Outback hero and challenge stalwart, finds himself short on numbers as the tribe lines harden. Colby is voted out, a strong all-star gone before the merge.
  8. 8Pick A TribemateMar 18, 2004Ethan Zohn, the well-liked Africa champion, can't find a safe path through the shifting alliances. He's voted out, another former winner falling in the pre-merge scramble.
  9. 9Mad Scramble and Broken HeartsApr 1, 2004Here's the move that defines the season. With Amber Brkich on the chopping block, Rob Mariano strikes a cross-tribe deal with Lex van den Berghe: save Amber, and I'll protect you later. Lex honors it, swinging the vote to take out Jerri Manthey instead and sparing Amber, trusting Rob's word completely.
  10. 10Anger, Tears and ChaosApr 8, 2004The nine survivors merge into Chaboga Mogo, and Lex comes to collect on Rob's promise, only to find there was never any intention of paying it. Rob reneges and orchestrates Lex's blindside, voting out the man who'd just saved his girlfriend. Lex is sent to the jury as the first member, furious and betrayed, and the bitterness will trail Rob all the way to the end.
  11. 11A Thoughtful Gesture or a Deceptive PlanApr 15, 2004Rob and Amber's Chapera bloc now controls the merged tribe, and they keep working through the outsiders. Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien, Lex's closest ally, is the next to go, voted out to the jury.
  12. 12Stupid People, Stupid, Stupid PeopleApr 22, 2004The Chapera machine rolls on. Alicia Calaway, strong and outspoken, can't crack the couple's grip on the numbers and is voted out to the jury.
  13. 13A Chapera SurpriseApr 29, 2004Shii Ann Huang, the last real wildcard left, tries to find a crack to pry open but runs out of room. She's voted out to the jury as Rob and Amber tighten their hold heading into the endgame.
  14. 14The InstigatorMay 6, 2004Big Tom Buchanan, the folksy goat farmer and one of Rob's own Chapera allies, is finally cut loose as the couple trims the last of their inner circle. Tom is voted out to the jury, leaving Rob, Amber, Rupert, and Jenna Lewis at the final four.
  15. 15The Sole Surviving All-StarFinaleMay 9, 2004Finale night. Rupert Boneham, the tie-dyed fan favorite who'd go on to win the season's separate million-dollar viewers' prize, is voted out in fourth, and Jenna Lewis is sent to the jury in third, leaving Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich, the inseparable power couple, at the end. At Final Tribal, the jury, still seething over Rob's broken promises, Lex most of all, can't bring themselves to reward him, and they hand Amber the title 4-3. Rob loses the game but wins something else, proposing to Amber on the live reunion stage.
