Rupert Boneham never won a season, and with him it never mattered. The tie-dyed, bushy-bearded mentor for at-risk kids became the most beloved figure of Survivor's early years — announcing himself on the first day of Pearl Islands by stealing the rival tribe's shoes, then spending the rest of the season as Drake's growling, bear-hugging provider, spearfishing dinner and bulldozing his way to an eighth-place finish.
America loved him enough to hand him the money the game wouldn't. After a fourth-place run in All-Stars, CBS staged a nationwide fan vote — 'America's Tribal Council' — and Rupert won it in a landslide, taking the $1 million and 85% of the votes. He kept coming back: sixth as a Hero in Heroes vs. Villains, then a gutting Blood vs. Water exit where he volunteered to take his wife Laura's place on Redemption Island and lost the very first duel. Four tries, no title, and a fan base no champion can touch.
