Jalapao lost the very first challenge of Tocantins, and the older, scrappier Sandy Burgin was right on the chopping block. The tribe ended up keeping her and sending Carolina home 7-1 instead, deciding a bad attitude was worse than a slow start. Sandy got a reprieve that should have meant something.
It didn't. When Jalapao's winning streak finally snapped a few votes later and dropped them at their first Tribal, the tribe weighed the older, struggling Sandy against the strategically dangerous Sydney and took the safe cut, sending Sandy out 5-1-1, thirteenth. Both times the alliance had her on the block it reached for the same easy answer, and the gutsy underdog never got the chance to be anything more on the tribe that would go on to mint JT's 7-0 perfect game.
