Joel Klug was a high-energy personal trainer on Borneo's Pagong tribe — friendly and athletic, one of the young, easygoing members of the tribe that defined the show's original sunny-camp half. He looked like a comfortable fit on a tight Pagong.
His undoing was a careless offhand remark about the tribe's women that got back to them and curdled his standing fast; as Pagong began to lose, Joel became an early casualty, voted out in eleventh. An object lesson, in the very first season, that in Survivor everything you say finds its way home.
