Sydney Segal earned a permanent place in the Survivor record book during the new era's chaotic debut season. A law student from Los Angeles, she became the first player ever to use a Shot in the Dark — gambling her vote for a one-in-six shot at immunity.

It came up safe — and because her game ended at the merge soon after, Sydney also left as the first castaway in Survivor history to play her entire game without ever casting a vote at Tribal Council. A genuine footnote-maker in the season that rewrote the rules.
