A medical student running challenges on a prosthetic leg, Kelly Bruno was keeping pace with her young La Flor tribemates step for step in Nicaragua until the wrong person decided to make her a target. On Day 8, NaOnka Mixon shoved her aside to rip a basket of fruit out of her hands, then went to the cameras and said she'd happily toss Kelly's fake leg into the fire. Kelly never gave her the satisfaction of looking rattled, but the season had already found its villain, and Kelly was wearing the bullseye.
Her end came on the messiest night of the pre-merge: a double-elimination Tribal where the vote tied three ways and forced a revote before the tribe sorted out who it could live without. When the dust settled, two torches went out the same night — Kelly's and Yve Rojas's — and Kelly went home fifteenth, one swap and a coin-flip of a revote short of the merge. The cruel part is that one of the toughest players on that beach got bounced before the game ever really opened up, and she's remembered now as the woman NaOnka couldn't break. That part, at least, she won.
