Abrasive and divisive around camp, he answered the doubters where it counted, winning two individual immunities down the stretch to muscle his way deep into the game.
He made it to the final three on Day 41, and then watched the season's most famous strategic blunder save and doom him in the same breath: Colby Donaldson won the last immunity and chose to take Tina Wesson to the end over Keith — the stronger jury threat — and lost to her 4-3.
