Cagayan winner Tony Vlachos doesn't get to the end without Trish Hegarty, and the maddening part is he's the one who sent her packing. The pilates instructor was Brawn from day one with Tony, and across the merge she did the unglamorous work his game needed — talking down the people his spy-shack chaos rattled and keeping his alliance pointed the same direction. When her feud with Lindsey Ogle blew up into a screaming match, it was Lindsey who walked; Trish kept her torch and kept Tony's numbers in line.
It caught up with her in the one spot loyalty can't save you: the final five. Spencer kept winning immunity, so the core four had to eat one of their own, and Tony didn't blink — he blindsided his most trusted ally to the jury at fifth. Brutal, and exactly the read the rest of the jury needed: if Tony will cut Trish, Tony will cut anybody, and they handed him the title 8-1 anyway. She's the easiest player to overlook in one of the most dominant winning runs the show has ever put on, but pull the engine out and that whole run stalls.
