At 58, Sue Smey did something no woman her age had ever done: she pulled an individual immunity necklace over her head, the oldest woman to win one in the show's history. The flight-school owner spent the early days of Survivor 47 as a problem to be solved — TK tried to talk Gabe into coming for her on Tuku, and Sue read it cold, linking up with Gabe, Tiyana, and Caroline to flip the whole thing around and send TK home instead. Not bad for the quiet one.
Here's the call that actually defines her, though. Late in the game Sue was holding a real hidden idol with her closest ally, Caroline, sitting right on the chopping block — and she kept it in her pocket, letting Caroline go out 3-2-2 rather than burn it. From there she was along for Rachel LaMont's ride: at the final four Rachel won her fourth immunity and simply handed Sue the safety, parking her in the Final 3 while Sam and Teeny made fire for the last seat. The jury saw the coattails for what they were and shut her out, every vote going elsewhere in the 7-1-0 that crowned Rachel. Sue finished third — a record-setting necklace and a deep run, but not a single ballot to show for it.
