Mikayla Wingle was one of Upolu's best challenge bodies in South Pacific, and she got voted out because Brandon Hantz couldn't handle being attracted to her. That's the whole story. Russell's nephew fixated on Mikayla, got rattled by his own crush, and decided the strong, capable young player on his own tribe had to go. Coach Wade, who could've shut the tantrum down cold, instead let Brandon run with it, and Mikayla went out fourteenth — voted off her own tribe over a teammate's feelings.
It got crueler. With Redemption Island in play she still had a shot to duel her way back, except Christine Shields Markoski was the queen of that arena by then, knocking off everybody Upolu shipped her way, and she sent Mikayla home too. As genuinely unfair an early boot as the show has handed out: she never lost a beat of her own game, she just couldn't survive Brandon's nerves.
